Mr. Blackbird

Over the last few years, I've grown more in tune with nature, and with watching what it has in store for me. Always, there is some meaning to the scene that plays out before me. Butterflies, doves, deer, spiders. All for a purpose, comforting, healing, hopeful.

For the last few weeks, I've been noticing blackbirds, crows, if you will, flying around. Always flying in front of my van, swooping and making themselves seen.

I looked up their meaning.

Crow: Keeper of the Sacred Law

Crows are the keepers of the Sacred Law and to have a Crow totem is very powerful. Personal Integrity is your watchword and your guide in Life. If you have a Crow totem, your prime path is to be mindful of your opinions and actions. You must be willing to walk your talk, to speak your truth and to know your life's mission. Crow is an omen of Change. Things that you have been working toward will come to fruition when Crow appears. Crow lives in the void and has no sense of time; therefore, it sees past, present and future simultaneously. Crow merges both light and dark, both inner and outer. It is the totem of the Great Spirit and must be respected as such.

Thank you, Mr. Blackbird.

No More!

How can we, as parents, hope to stem bullying in our children when we, as grown-ups, can't seem to stop bullying each other? Don't perpetuate trash talking and gossip. Stand up for what you know is wrong. Talk TO people and not ABOUT them.

It's been a trying and stressing week. My family and I have put up with a lot. Now we are standing up for ourselves.

Addition

A few weeks ago I thought of something I wanted to add to my Bucket List for this year. Only a few things have actually been done on that list, because of the changes and unplanned things life and God have brought into and onto our path. Pregnancy changes so many things!

I recently realized that I have never laid on the ground and watched the clouds in the sky with my girls. What?!?! Isn't that a childhood right of passage? How could I have been so remiss?

Before my friend Kristie died, she and I would notice the clouds, and look for angel shapes. Little did either of us know, I think, that she would become one of those angel shapes in the sky.

Last Friday, my girls and I opened our first lemonade stand of the season. They made $8.50, not a bad take for a Friday afternoon when the weather was just a little bit too cold for lemonade. My oldest happened to look up, and notice a cloud in the sky. She pointed it out to me, and to her sisters.

It was a heart.

Today, my 5 year old called me over to the kitchen window. "Mommy, look at the clouds!" she said. They looked like angels.

Thanks, Kristie.
